The Boards of Ireland's largest landowners - Coillte Teo. and Bord na Mona do not employ a single environmental ecologist. Neither does the Envirionmental Protection Agency (EPA). Coillte appointed its first Director with a forestry qualification only in 2006. Nature conservation is highly politicised in Ireland.
